Media Showcase with Elliott Tucker
Elliott is a Jewish filmmaker and artist residing in London. His work has evolved from extensive collaborations across the Jewish community, from being a Jewish youth worker for orthodox and reform synagogues at different times to making films for many Jewish charities, including Limmud, the LJCC and the Jewish Museum.
Much of Elliott's work explores the nature of Jewish identity and community, examining aspects of religious/spiritual consciousness - often seeking the tensions between these ideas.

Elliott's recent works include:

"Ghetto Warriors" (2007). DV Doc short. 25 mins A meditation on the old world of Jewish East End boxing and a struggle for identity.
"Yabbok" (2007). Live theatre and video. A Jewish black comedy play concerning religious identity crisis.
"Star Wars Exhibition Promo" (2007). Promotional films for 2007 Star Wars exhibition at County Hall with the Oscar winning film director Roger Christian.
"The Movieum, Home Made" (2008). Film documentaries on cinema history for THE MOVIEUM movie museums in London and Paris.
Elliott is currently finishing the direction on a feature documentary film called 'The Children of the Ghetto' - the story of East End Jewry. The film is a deep meditation into the old world of the ghetto - the sounds, the smells, the life that was once there.
The film is an exploration of a collective memory and identity and includes interviews with Vidal Sassoon, Steven Berkoff and the Chief Rabbi as well as many of the special unknown people of the East End.
He has also set up a film academy for training filmmakers from ethnic and marginalised backgrounds - it's called FILM FOR HUMANITY.

Through film, art and other mediums, a facilitated discussion will attempt to define what the media actually is. Then, we will explore the ideas of Jews in non Jewish media, perspectives on Israel and the power of cinema and television.

After this, we will have the opportunity to take full advantage of Elliott's interactive studio through a workshop process.
Everyone will have the opportunity to write, paint or film responses to the earlier part of the session.
