Powering pioneers for generations

About Leadership Development

Our community needs talented people to lead it into the future. That's why UJIA is committed to recruiting and nurturing young leaders, as well as supporting our current leaders, whether professional or lay. Our aim is to train and develop leaders within UJIA, as well as to become the central address for lay leadership development in the Jewish community.

UJIA professionals and committee chairs are actively seeking opportunities for new lay leaders to get involved in our work for young people and education in the UK and Israel. To find out more email Nicky Goldman.

Our initiatives contribute to our goal of creating a cadre of leaders with a shared vision. UJIA's main leadership development programmes are as follows:

  • Adam Science Foundation Leadership Programme (ASFLP)
  • A unique 12-month programme for young professionals to develop their vision for and understanding of the key issues facing the UK Jewish community and help them to acquire the skills and experience they need to become leaders in the Jewish community. Read more.
  • Future Step
  • We now have three applications for every ASFLP place so we launched Future Step, a series of seminars to introduce young professionals to take a more active leadership role in the community.
  • New Leadership Network
  • The New Leadership Network (NLN) is a forum for leadership in the Jewish community. It acts as an informal network, connecting and informing people who take on senior communal leadership responsibilities. NLN is a project under the auspices of the Jewish Leadership Council and is delivered by UJIA.
  • UJIA Lead Now
  • This programme encourages the best young leaders to commit to a year's full time work for Youth Movements and the Union of Jewish Students (UJS) by showcasing the opportunities that this work provides for their future. Read more.
