Twenty two British families travelled to Israel in summer 2010 to celebrate becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah with their Ethiopian "twins". Participants in the UJIA Ethiopian Bar/Bat Mitzvah Programme joined 40 Ethiopian families and over 300 guests for an emotional ceremony in Jerusalem where the children were blessed by the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Yona Metzger.

HE Ron Prosor, Ambassador of Israel to the UK, spoke to a packed audience at a Y-UJIA educational evening on the topic of “Is Israel fighting a losing battle in the media?”

Mancunians had a laugh for a good cause at a special comedy evening featuring Mark Maier, Bennett Arron and Jonathan Bentata. The night raised £16,000 for the After-School Enrichment Programme which provides tuition outside regular school hours for underprivileged children in northern Israel. Photos by Rob Clayton.
