Ealing raises over £20,000 for school in northern Israel

Members of Ealing United Synagogue raised £23,000 for UJIA to help build a new cross-communal high school in the Israeli town of Shlomi. Over 50 guests attended the community’s annual dinner which included a lecture by guest speaker, Middle East expert Professor Asher Susser.

The funds will be used to build a classroom at the new school in the development town near the Lebanon border. As well as being the community's first ever secondary school, Shlomi High School is unique because it acts as a bridge between religious and secular Israelis.

Barry Shrage, the US Jewish leader who raised $1 billion, shared his vision for community on his first visit to the UK, hosted by UJIA and the Jewish Leadership Council (21 to 23 February 2010). Senior figures from across the community, both young and old, joined Mr Shrage to learn from his experiences and help shape a new vision for the UK Jewish community.

Brian Kerner's 75th birthday celebration

Over 80 leading figures from the Jewish community came together to honour the lifetime achievement of UJIA president, Brian Kerner, on the occasion of his 75th birthday.

Guests included Irit Barash (Keren Hayesod), Michael Goldstein (Stoy Haward), Geoffrey Ognall (Legal & Trade Financial Services), Lee Scott MP, Alan Sefton (Arsenal in the Community) and Poju Zabludowicz (Tamares Group).

Young UJIA - JMN 'Bright Young Things'

Have you ever wondered, "Where are all the Jews in the media?" Well, the answer to your question was at Soho’s exclusive Milk & Honey bar in January.

Over 70 young Jews from across the media industry came together for a sell-out networking event hosted by Young UJIA’s Jewish Media Network (JMN). Professionals working in television, newspapers, film, radio and PR, schmoozed and sipped cocktails at the full-to-capacity venue, marking a successful start to JMN’s 2010 calendar.
