British families celebrate Bar/Bat Mitzvot in Ethiopian style
Twenty two British families travelled to Israel to celebrate becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah with their Ethiopian "twins". Participants in the UJIA Ethiopian Bar/Bat Mitzvah Programme joined 40 Ethiopian families and over 300 guests for an emotional ceremony in Jerusalem where the children were blessed by the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Yona Metzger.

The final UJIA Birthright group of this summer took off from Heathrow for Ben Gurion International Airport this week - bringing the total number of participants in 2009/10 to 279 - one of the highest ever.

One in four teenagers on this summer's Israel Tour received support from UJIA's Bursary Fund. We are holding a special Telethon to raise money for the fund - and ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can take part in this life-changing experience.

Comedy for a good cause in Manchester
Mancunians had a laugh for a good cause at a special comedy evening featuring Mark Maier, Bennett Arron and Jonathan Bentata. The night raised £16,000 for the After-School Enrichment Programme which provides tuition outside regular school hours for underprivileged children in northern Israel.

Israel Tour 2010 touches down in Tel Aviv
This summer's first Israel Tour group has touched down at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. The Jewish Lads' and Girls' Brigade group is the first in a record number of Jewish teens from the UK taking part in UJIA Israel Experience educational tours this summer.

UK business community celebrates Israel's 62nd birthday
Over 300 leaders from the UK business community came together to celebrate Israel's 62nd birthday at UJIA's Yom Ha'atzmaut Business Breakfast. The event, sponsored by Deutsche Bank, raised over £130,000 for UJIA's work. Guest speakers Sir Stuart Rose, executive chairman of Marks & Spencer, and James Harding, editor of The Times, discussed business relations between Israel and the UK.

Media professionals flocked to Camden for the Young UJIA Jewish Media Network's Bacon Bagel Debate. Ealing raises over £20,000 for school in north of Israel
Members of Ealing United and Ealing Liberal Synagogues raised £23,000 for UJIA to help build a new pluralistic high school in northern Israel. Over 50 guests attended the community's annual dinner which included a lecture by guest speaker, Professor Asher Susser, about the future of Israel in the Middle East of the 21st Century.
