Over 270 women attended the UJIA Women's Luncheon, held at The Park Lane Hotel. The luncheon was chaired by UJIA newcomer Karen Harris with guest of honour, Mr Piers Morgan.
Mr. Morgan addressed a lively audience with tales from his time as a top newspaper editor, including intimate meals with top political figures to some questionable career moves and more recently his entrance into the A list celebrity world with ventures such as Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent. All stories were littered with jokes and personal accounts. He also touched very sensitively on Israel's 60th year and gave his wish for peace in the Middle East and praised the work that UJIA is doing. He finished his very well received stint with a borrowed Jewish joke from his old friend, Sir Alan Sugar.
The committee, chaired by Karen Harris was Hazel Collins, Samantha Cooper, Lindsay Davidson and Lucy Sorksy oversaw a successful event raising over £100,000 for UJIA educational programmes in the UK and Israel.
UJIA Fundraising Manager Deborah Blake commented, "The event was a celebration of women and philanthropy, the atmosphere in the room was great with Mr. Morgan reading his audience well and providing countless laughs. The money raised will make a real difference to young Jewish people in our UK Jewish communities and in Israel."
