UJIA was proud to host Jonathan Morris, as he unveiled a plaque in memory of his parents Norman & Julia Morris at the Kfar Galim Youth Village, northern Israel.
Mr. Morriss' generosity in donating gym equipment will make a difference to the lives of the young people living in Kfar Galim. The youth village, located near Haifa exemplifies the power of education in helping young immigrants to Israel. It also teaches empowerment and positive action. The supportive learning and living environment offer what is sometimes a last resort to immigrant teenage youth.
At the ceremony Natie Shevel, UJIA Israel Regional director said, "UJIA is proud to have on board someone like Jonathan Morris whose family has done and continues to do so much for the Jewish community both locally in the UK, and in Israel. ...It is clear that the values your parents believed in so passionately have been passed on to you. Thank You".
Jonathan Morris explained, "the dedication of my parents to the country and it's people has inspired me, it gave me my love and connection to Israel, and now I want to give back, thanks to UJIA initiative we have found such a fitting way to remember them and, at the same time, to give the students of Kfar Galim the means to keep themselves fit."
UJIA Fundraising Director David Goldberg, described the late Mr. Norman Morris as "a legend in history books of the British Zionist Movement."
