UJIA paid tribute to its longest serving fundraiser, Zalman Speigel who is to retire shortly. Know as the "one hundred million pound man", Zalman has spent more than 30 years as one of the most dedicated UJIA fundraisers and supporters of Israel and the UK community and has raised around £100 million pounds over his long and devoted service.
UJIA Vice-Chairman, Geoffrey Ognall who hosted the event, paid tribute to Zalman's career and professionalism and his wonderful sense of humour. UJIA CEO, Doug Krikler echoed the sentiment and called Zalman the professionals professional and was honoured to have worked with such a dedicated individual.
Many messages of support and thanks were received from those who were unable to be with Zalman on the evening, including Mick Davis, David Cohen and Brian Kerner present and past Chairs of UJIA. All recognised Zalman's exceptional contribution to the community, not just in financial terms but in the knowledge and understanding he has of the community in the UK and Israel.
Zalman was joined by many members of his family, including his sister-in-law who travelled from Israel for the evening.
Zalman thanked everyone for being with him and the kind words from all those he has worked with over many years of fundraising.
