UJIA Bench and Bar does Cocktails and Canapes

UJIA's Bench and Bar committe, Co-Chaired by Jane Mischon and Samantha Leek, held a successful 'Comedy & Canapes' evening for more than 60 people on Thursday 4 December 2008. The event provided the perfect networking platform for barristers and solicitors in an informal setting.

The evening was also full of laughs as Jewish comedian Bennett Arron took to the floor. He was followed by UJIA Bench and Bar Committee member Jacob Levy, who spoke passionately about UJIA's work investing in young people and education, and namely the UJIA Youth Futures work which provides "at-risk" primary school children with a mentor, or trustee, for a 3 year period to ensure they have a bright future to help them implement a personal educational plan. It also offers in-class and after-school support to secondary school children to ensure that those children in danger of failing their matriculation tests receive the help they need to succeed.

A follow up reception is already being planned for Summer 09.
