Ambassador visit to Leeds

During his recent two day visit to Leeds, Ambassador Ron Prosor, took time to address the UJIA Leeds Women's Commitee and donors. The event was hosted at the home of Edwina and Mason Glass and attracted over seventy people.

Norma Collins, Chair of Leeds Women's UJIA, introduced Ambassador Prosor thanking him for scheduling this meeting in a busy schedule and for giving an up to the minute briefing on the situation in Israel.

The Ambassador thanked the Leeds Community for their support of Israel especially over the past few difficult months. He asked those present to explain to others, Israel's policy in the Middle East. "People must stand up and be counted" was his message. Mr Prosor gave a detailed account regarding the background to the situation leading to Israel entering Gaza. He also answered the many questions from the audience relating to a wide range of subjects.

Howard Foreman UJIA's Regional Director gave the vote of thanks and he emphasised how important Israel was to our Jewish Communities in the UK.

The talk was followed by a light brunch where the Ambassador joined in and answered further questions on a one to one basis.

All agreed that listening and meeting Ambassador Prosor had been a highlight of the UJIA Women's calendar so far. All now look forward to the UJIA Appeal Lunch on May 14 2009 with Guest of Honour BICOM CEO, Lorna Fitzsimons.
