UJIA Pesach trip is a big success

When UJIA asked the question, 'Going to Israel this Pesach?' they were delighted by the great response across the community as people called to register for the Galil Experience day trip to the north of Israel.

Over 80 participants of all ages, from London, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle, were collected from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Herzeliyah and Netanya and enjoyed a guided coach tour of the country, seeing first-hand the transformation of the northern region, made possible thanks to money raised in the UK.

The trip included tours of UJIA funded educational programmes in the Galil including Kishorit Kibbutz Eshbal and Ayalim.

Kishorit is a unique village for mentally and physically challenged people and their families, Kibbutz Eshbal delivers educational programmes to young people 'at risk' and Ayalim is a grassroots initiative that is bringing new young adults to the Galil in order to live, study and volunteer.

A kosher for Passover lunch was served at the newly completed Western Galil Sports College, another UJIA funded initiative. The day ended with a tour of glorious and historical Old Acco, hosted by the members of the partnership student project at Ayalim.

UJIA Regional Director for Israel Natie Shevel commented,"This was a tremendous opportunity for participants to see the work of UJIA in Israel and to showcase the impact of the partnership for the benefit of young people. The programmes visited are emblematic of our approach to long-term sustainable growth in the Galil."
