UJIA magic moments 2009!

It's that time of year again; UJIA has welcomed a delegation of Israeli teenagers from its partnership region, the Galil in northern Israel for UJIA magic moments. (The participating communities are listed below).

During this special week, the teenagers interact with their host community visiting chederim, schools and community centres, with the aim of building and strengthening life-long ties between them and their British counterparts. The highlight of the UJIA magic moments programme is the Yom Hazikaron / Yom Ha'atzmaut ceremony, prepared and led by the Israeli teenagers.

"Each year the UJIA magic moments delegation has a profound impact on the Jewish community in the UK, coming into contact with many British Jews and non-Jews. The young Israeli ambassadors come with a sense of mission to promote the spirit of Israel, in their own natural and authentic way. They successfully raise the profile of the Galil, form lasting relationships with UK Jews and create unforgettable and magical memories for all." UJIA magic moments host 2008

The programme, now in its 7th year, enjoyed a UJIA Family Fun Day on Sunday 26 April 2009. Over 200 people (participants and their host families) joined in the day, which included a sponsored BBQ, football tournament and craft workshops.

Yom Hazikaron ceremonies will take place over two evenings, Monday 27 April and Tuesday 28 April 2009.

This year's communities are: Chigwell & Hainault, Cockfosters & N Southgate, Edgware Masorti, HGSS, Liverpool, Maidenhead, Manchester, Muswell Hill United, Radlett, Stanmore and Canons Park -- each will be holding a special Yom Ha'zikaron ceremony followed by Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations.
