Jews across Britain braved the wintry weather to raise £122,000 for the second UJIA Super Sunday Telethon on 10 January 2010.
The ice and snow did not deter people of all ages who travelled to offices in London and Manchester to take part in the event. Over 100 volunteers manned the phones and became fundraisers for the day, including a record number of youngsters from FZY and Habonim Dror in Manchester.
The success of this weekend's event follows the first UJIA Super Sunday Telethon in November 2009 which raised £54,000, bringing the total amount raised to £176,000. UJIA Leeds and Liverpool will also be holding Super Sunday Telethons on 17 and 24 January respectively.
The funds will be used to support UJIA initiatives in Israel and the UK, including Israel programmes for young people, educational and leadership training, as well as schools and community infrastructure in northern Israel.
Thank you for getting behind us - every pound you helped to raise will really make a difference.
