Over 300 members of the UK business community celebrated Israel's 62nd birthday at UJIA's annual Yom Ha'atzmaut Business Breakfast on Tuesday 20 April 2010. Guests showed their support for Israel by donating over £130,000 to UJIA's work for young people and education.
The event at the Park Lane Hotel was organised by UJIA's Business Division and sponsored by Deutsche Bank. Guest speakers on the day were Sir Stuart Rose, executive chairman of Marks & Spencer, and James Harding, editor of The Times, who discussed business and current affairs. Teenagers from the north of Israel taking part in UJIA's Magic Moments programme took the stage to sing the Hatikvah and met Israeli Ambassador, Ron Prosor.
Zac Gazit, head of the UJIA Business Division, said:
"It was fantastic to see so many business leaders and top firms come together to celebrate Israel's birthday with UJIA. We welcome more businesses to get involved and join us to build a brighter future for young people, both in Israel and the UK."
