Legacies are vital to UJIA's funding and ensuring the long-term goals that UJIA has for its projects in both Israel and the UK.
Following successful Missions to Israel, UJIA's Legacy programme arranged a UK Legacy Mission on Tuesday 25 May 2010 to show supporters the projects that UJIA supports in the UK.
The group had a unique opportunity of meeting the beneficiaries of UJIA's funding including seeing school children learning Hebrew and meeting teachers and youth movement workers. From the London School of Jewish Studies to the Federation of Zionist Youth, programmes across the country benefit from UJIA support.
Following a day of visiting programmes and meeting community leaders, the group visited UJIA's new offices in Camden Town. UJIA Chief Executive, Douglas Krikler, welcomed the group and gave an overview of the importance of the work UJIA is doing in the UK community and how legacies are an integral part of UJIA's continued interventions for British Jewry. Participants also heard from the Union of Jewish Students on how they are combating anti-Semitism on campus and how UJIA's support means they can ensure that university students become educated and well-informed advocates for Israel's cause.
Closing the day, UJIA Legacy Chair, Jo Wagerman, thanked the group for their support and reinforced the importance of long-term investment to continue the work they group had seen during the day.
