Teenagers from across the UK heard Lord Janner discuss what it means to be a leader in a non-Jewish world at the first ever JAMSlam event on Sunday 26 September. The all-day conference from UJIA Jewish Activities in Mainstream Schools (JAMS) was held at the London Jewish Cultural Centre and attracted over 85 participants from London, Essex, Surrey and beyond.
JAMSlam is the biggest event in the UJIA JAMS calendar. Other sessions included Judge Jeffrey Bryer talking about lawmaking and lawbreaking, as well as Limmud co-founder, Clive Lawton, discussing 'What should young Jews know?' The event also saw the launch of UJIA JAMS' campus programme with sessions on university life run by the Union of Jewish Students (UJS).
Becca Gold from the UJIA JAMS Youth Participation Group said:
"Jewish people across the world are connected for one reason: because they are Jews. JAMSlam aims to embrace this fact and connect young Jewish people from all over the UK, so it was great to see so many people join us for this fantastic event."
