UJIA backs city's Jewish Resource Centre
Jewish education in Merseyside was given a major boost recently when UJIA agreed to support the Liverpool Jewish Resource Centre over the next two years. The funds will go towards providing books and teaching resources for the centre, running tours of local synagogues, as well as a new project to create a digital library of Jewish music.
Based at Childwall Synagogue, the Liverpool Jewish Resource Centre, is the city's hub for Jewish learning. It supports teachers and pupils from Jewish and mainstream schools, as well as staff and students from colleges and universities, to further their knowledge of Judaism as a living faith and enhance their understanding of Jews as a community and a people.
Barry Davidson, Chairman, Liverpool UJIA UK Programmes, said:
"We are delighted to be supporting Jewish education in Merseyside. The Liverpool Jewish Resource Centre is a valuable asset for the whole community, Jews and non-Jews alike, and will enable more people to learn about our faith and culture."
