Manchester Super Sunday raises £64K

Volunteers from across the Manchester community helped UJIA hit its target by raising £64,000 for young people in the UK and northern Israel. This Sunday (30 January 2011) over 60 people donated their time to take part in the Super Sunday telethon to raise money for UJIA's programmes.

This year, UJIA Super Sunday fundraising telethons were hosted at the North Manchester offices of Searchlight and Elitex House in South Manchester. UJIA staff were joined by families from across Manchester, together with members of the UK's Jewish Youth Movements including Habonim, FZY and B'nei Akiva, who join UJIA every year forming an integral part of the UJIA telethon. Also participating were pupils from King David Yavneh. Members of the newly formed United Jewish Leadership Group were also there to hit the phones.

Elliot Hunter, a volunteer from FZY said, "It is a very worthwhile day and it means a great deal to be able to give back to young people both in Israel and the UK."

Ilana Ray, UJIA Regional Director, commented: "A huge thank you is due to everyone who volunteered their time to help us exceed our super target of £60,000."
