UJIA in Israel

In the north of Israel, UJIA has started Galil-wide initiatives such as community transformation programmes and upgrading schools, as well as many individual local projects. These are intended to strengthen the region's social infrastructure and indirectly provide a significant boost to the local economy. Our Education Initiative spans the entire Galil and includes the upgrading of facilities and educational interventions, such as curriculum development and extra-curricular support. We also fund initiatives for sustainable employment opportunities, providing small business support and vocational training. We are heavily focused on community regeneration, linking with Tel Hai Academic College and Migal's world class research institute.

After-School Enrichment Programme

Severe budgetary constraints have limited the Israeli school day to morning hours only. This programme offers after-school educational enrichment for children, together with a hot meal, providing an invaluable service for low-income families.

Ayalim Student Villages

Ayalim is a new grassroots initiative bringing young adults to the Galil to live, study and volunteer. The students are drawn from all sections of Israeli society and are registered at local colleges.

Chalom B'Merom - Merom HaGalil

'Chalom' means 'dream' - but it also the Hebrew acronym for Thinking, Learning and Self Leadership. This programme provides systematic after-school support for 500 children in the the Meron HaGalil region.

Educational Continuum - Shlomi

In partnership with UJIA and major foundations, the community leadership in Shlomi is preparing a long-term educational plan for the town, from pre-school learning to post-army vocational and academic training.
