The Merchavim Institute of Shared Citizenship in Israel is an educational non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting the ideas, values and practices of shared citizenship among every sector of Israeli society.
Secular, traditional and religious Jews, Christian and Muslim Arabs, the disabled and the immigrants all share access to the same Israeli identity card. Merchavim seeks to promote fairness, respect and tolerance amongst all Israelis whilst respecting the particular culture, religion and nationality of individuals and communities.
Merchavim produces educational programmes for schools and conducts training seminars for educators. Over the last few years, Merchavim has become a leading partner of the Israeli Ministry of Education in advancing the shared citizenship agenda. The UJIA partnership with Merchavim will impact upon 100 educational institutions in the Galil within 3 years.
